Normal Skin Care Guide

Our Face Care Guide for Normal Skin helps you find the perfect skin care routine to take care of your skin.

What is normal skin?

Normal skin is well-balanced skin . You may experience some oiliness in the T-zone (forehead, chin and nose) in some specific situations, but not always. But in general, sebum and hydration are both balanced and the skin is neither too oily nor too dry.

Having well-balanced skin doesn’t mean you shouldn’t take care of it! You should follow a skincare routine that helps maintain balance, treat any problems that arise, and prevent future damage .

Identify

- Due to a healthy balance of sebum and moisture, normal skin looks even and feels balanced.

- Pores are barely visible, and there are few or no pimples

- Overall, your healthy skin doesn't feel tight, dry or sensitive.

- Whether you use a foaming cleanser, a balm, or even an oil cleanser, your skin will always be left feeling clean and calm.

To care

- Normal skin care has a three-pronged approach: keeping your skin balanced and protecting it from future damage with your essential skin care, and addressing immediate concerns with your targeted skin care.

- Remove your makeup and cleanse your skin thoroughly every night to ensure you wake up with beautiful skin the next day.

- Always protect your skin with a good sunscreen every day, even in winter. This will help you keep your skin healthy, with fewer signs of aging and skin blemishes, for longer.

1⃣ Double Cleansing

In the morning, you will cleanse your skin only once. But at night, even if you don't wear makeup, cleanse your skin twice: once with an oil-based product, the makeup remover. And a second time with the same product you used in the morning.

You will need two products, one oil-based and one water-based.

2⃣ Hydration

You have two options:

Option 1 - Choose a more generic moisturizer, suitable for your skin type, that can be used in the morning and at bedtime. (but in this case, you will need to apply sunscreen in the morning)

Option 2 - Use a day moisturizer with sun protection and one at night that helps with skin regeneration.

3⃣ Sun Protection

If you didn’t opt for two moisturizers, one for the day and one for the night, and prefer to have just one moisturizer, then you need to complement your skincare regimen with sun protection to protect your skin from future damage. This is the last step in your morning routine.

Os seus cuidados específicos

Depois de criar a sua rotina básica, com os 3 passos essenciais, avalie a sua pele e veja se há ainda algo que gostasse de corrigir ou alguma preocupação que gostaria de tratar.

Dehydrated skin

One of the most common problems of normal skin is the possibility of dehydration of the skin. Not to be confused with dry skin! Dehydrated skin lacks water, while dry skin lacks oil. If your skin is normal but shows signs of dehydration, then you need to replenish the water.

Dehydrated skin can be caused by external factors, such as living in a very dry environment, or being exposed to air conditioning or heating. It can also be a consequence of lifestyle habits, such as drinking little water, smoking or consuming alcohol. The ideal is to correct these external factors. In terms of facial care, try:

1) Add a toner to your routine, such as OSKIA City Life Anti-Pollution Toner Spray , SON & PARK Beauty Water Cleansing, Exfoliating and Moisturizing Toner or DERMALOGICA Multi Active Toner .

2) Add a face serum , such as DERMALOGICA Skin Hydration Booster , OSKIA Isotonic Hydra-Serum or EVOLVE Natural Hyaluronic Acid Hydrating Serum .

3) Use a face mask once or twice a week, such as DERMALOGICA's Melting Moisture Hydrating Mask or EVOLVE's Bio Retinol Gold Mask .

Firmness, fine lines and wrinkles

All skin types age. This is one of the reasons why you should use sunscreen every day, as it will always be your best preventive weapon. From the age of 25, you can start using anti-aging products to prevent the main signs of aging from appearing. Whether you want to prevent or correct signs of aging that have already appeared, we suggest these options:

1) Add an anti-aging serum to your routine. In order of "strength", you have for example the Anti-Aging Serum with Probiotics from GALLINÉE , the Anti-Aging Serum Superfood 360 from EVOLVE , the Age Smart Firming Serum Phyto-Nature from DERMALOGICA , or the Retinoid Night Serum Level 2 - 0.5% from OSKIA .

2) Add a Face Oil to treat wrinkles and firmness , such as OSKIA's Restoration Oil or DERMALOGICA's Active Clearing Anti-Imperfection Retinol Oil .

Black spots and pigmentation

We talk about pigmentation spots when the skin pigmentation is uneven. These darker spots are caused by the excess production of melanin by cells called melanocytes and can occur in any skin type, at any age, due to factors such as sun exposure, pregnancy, post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (acne or wound healing) or skin aging. To treat skin with spots, try:

1) AHAs , such as Evolve's Glycolic Acid Exfoliating Brightening Toner or Oskia's Lactic Acid Micro-Peeling Liquid Mask .

2) Retinol or Bakuchiol . You can do this in a gentle way, for example by swapping your cleansing gel for Oskia's Renaissance Cleansing Gel and adding Oskia's Restoration Oil to your routine.

3) Add Vitamin C to your routine with a serum , like Oskia's Renaissance Brightlight Anti-Blemish Serum , Dermalogica's Age Smart Biolumin-C Serum , or Evolve's Bio-Retinol + Vitamin C Booster .

4) Try a serum with Niacinamine , like Oskia's City Life Booster Anti-Pollution Concentrate Serum , or Dermalogica's PowerBright Spot Treatment Serum .

5) You can also swap your daytime sunscreen/moisturizer for something more effective in combating dark spots, such as PowerBright Pure Light Anti-Dark Spot Sunscreen SPF50 .

Dark circles and puffiness

Everyone has dark circles! There is, of course, a genetic factor, but sooner or later we all suffer from this problem. If it is something you want to try to alleviate, although there is no definitive solution and the best solution is to sleep, try using a good eye cream, such as Dermalogica Stress Positive Eye Lift Eye Cream , Oskia City Life I-Zone Lip and Eye Balm or Dermalogica Age Smart BioLumin-C Eye Serum .

Sensitivity and redness

Sensitive skin can be categorized in many ways and for many different reasons. Generally, a diagnosis and treatment by a doctor is always the best option. However, if you know that you have sensitivities, you should take this into account when choosing your products.

In all our skincare collections, you can select the concern "Sensitivity and Redness" which will give you pre-filtered results for this issue.

In any case, we recommend that you also check out Dermalogica's UltraCalming range, which is formulated with the most sensitive skin in mind. Gallinée is also a great brand for those with sensitive skin, as it respects your skin's microbiome and its products are dermatologically tested.
